The Girl said her first word this morning at 6:30am. Clear as crystal, and right out of the blue. She stood up at her cot, desparate to get out, and said:"Mummy."
Love, Justin.

That is beautiful.
How amazing that this time a year ago she wasn't even born yet, and in the space of a year is starting to speak. Wow!
Love Em
finally a baby that says "mummy" first instead of "daddy"! well done girl!
hope you guys are all well. We are doing fine, moving back to the ole north shore next week (joshua will be working at RNSH) and expecting baby number two in march (a cool year after Charlotte was born!)
MAYHEM!
I need a girl!!!! Al my boys have said 'Dad' as their first words..one of them even said 'yoda' and 'elmo' before 'mummy' made the vocab!
The girl is gorgeous.
just for a moment the world is as it should be ... Rhea
Justin, that is wonderful news, it is very exciting to see your kids do things for the first time.
Thanks for the blog, it's great to hear what's going on in you and your families life.
SImon.
ooo how exciting!!
gosh, thats gotta be a surreal thing really...
Thats a great photo too - shes adorable!
wow, you were awake at 6:30 AM? wow, life of a dad...
CONGRATS!
do you suppose that god took as much notice as you did? (one hopes that this might be the case, because one can then extrapolate to the idea that perhaps he takes that much of notice of Benjamin or Justin when Benjamin or Justin does something new and relatively amazing)
Very tidy.
Ben can say 'nanna' as in bananna but it also sounds a bit like Nanna (my mum's designation) So on a video the Rockwells took of him to take back to St Ives, we got him to say the fruit as if he was speaking to my mum. Sneaky, yes. but it will make her week!
Nice, Scott.
The Boy says: "Me-na-naa" for banana. No idea why. And Parp-ish for breakfast [or porridge?]
Benjamin -- I hope so. I think so. I think thats something of what Jesus means when he says: "Not a sparrow falls to the ground... So you..."
E said "LEE shintz" for escalator for a while when she was little. Very kewl.
that is so exciting!!! love it when they get verbal!!!
oh that's gorgeous. i think the only thing i heard her say when i saw her sounded vaguely like "abnashamahhhm". maybe you have a bi-lingual baby? she's looking gorgeous as always!

My sister's first word was "bagel," and this was in Ohio! But my dad was from New York...
Does it count as a first word if they don't actually know what that word means? I'm sure the Girl knows who 'Mummy' is, but I'm not sure baby knows what bagels are...and it is a fun word to say.
p.s, did she say mummy or mommy?
such a precious photo.

gone to prepare
For all who are washed and forgiven;
And many dear children shall be with Him there,
For “of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

my little lovely one thinks 'ma ma' is his toy cat.
Can't win them all! R
And here I thought it would be, "waaater." (Inside American joke--sorry Australian friends.)
